Before entering the field of law, Dave owned and operated several businesses of his own and spent a considerable number of years working for Young Life, a not-for-profit Christian organization.
Dave received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1968 and earned his Juris Doctor from Capital University.
